The founder, principal and artistic director of Bharatanatya Kalalaya, Mumbai - Guru Smt. Geetha Venkateswar is a distinguished artist, teacher and choreographer, she had her Bharatanatyam training under Guru Smt. Rajalakshmi Venkateswar of Kolkata, a senior disciple of renowned Guru Padmashri K.N. Dandayudapani Pillai. Guru Geetha continues to pursue her passion in Mumbai under Guru Sri Venogopal Pillai of Thanjuvar Nritya Shala. She has many television performances to her credit and has performed at several venues all over India as well as abroad, The Chidambaram Natyanjali, Surya Festival at Trivandrum and India Festival at Puducherry, to name a few. She has been conferred several titles and honours such as ‘Shivali Nritya Shiromani’ from Shivali Festival and “Natya Ratna” from Rasika Ranjani Sabha Mumbai for her choreography and stage productions. More recently, she was also the recipient of “Kamala Power Women” award at the hands of the Governor of Maharashtra, for her immense contribution to the art form.
