Salil Mukhiya Koitso

Koitso’s stories continue to connect his audiences with nature and nature traditions in deeply insightful and transformative ways. It often brings together indigenous wisdom, healing traditions and folklore, by weaving them into larger narratives that put forward the relevance of tribal oral traditions in a modern urban context.

Rooted in the spirit of the Darjeeling Himalayas, his stories naturally lead on to the world of the Yeti, mountains, rivers and forests compelling us to look into the greater web of relationships holding us all together, as one great whole. Over the years, he has inspired numerous storytelling spaces and circles in India by bringing the context of medicine stories to urban audiences.

He is a member of the international storytelling network and is also the founder of Acoustic Traditional and India’s first Festival of Indigenous Storytellers. Currently, Koitso teaches the way of narrative healing to healers, storytellers, counsellors and individuals from diverse backgrounds and around the world.
